Research Associate, Oil and Gas

Position Purpose:
Responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Energy sector.

Key Accountabilities:
* develop an expertise in the exploration and production sector and energy sector in general
* assist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial and reserve models
* coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases
* support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector
* help maintain and develop sector-specific databases
* help coordinate quarterly and year-end reporting initiatives
* participate in and assist with morning comments
* assist with special ad-hoc projects, presentations and initiatives as assigned
* provide research support to analyst as required

Job Requirements: (Knowledge/ Experience):
* Undergraduate and/or graduate degree, preferably with a concentration in Business, Economics, Finance or a highly quantitative discipline
* strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and detailed spreadsheet work
* solid writing skills
* strong PC skills specifically in Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and various industry publications
* at least 3 years of overall work experience
* at least one year of previous professional experience in the Oil and Gas sector
* strong preference for candidates with knowledge of the public financial markets
* ability to perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time
* strong work ethic, commitment to task and an attention to detail
* good inter-personal skills and the ability to work and coordinate effectively within a team environment
* ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities
* ability to live and work in Austin, TX
