Lead Advisor - Pharmacy Technician

Position Description
Advises individuals and provides guidance services regarding complex issues of assigned area. Work is performed under minimal supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Develops and maintains ongoing professional relationships with TTUHSC faculty, staff, students and customers including individuals, organizations, and agencies.
  • Serves as a liaison for the faculty course team members in Dallas, Abilene, Lubbock and Amarillo; primarily focused on laboratory courses.
  • Serves as a member of the teaching teams for pharmacy practice courses as assigned by the Department Chair; anticipate involvement in the Applied Patient Care, Parenterals, Patient Assessment, Immunizations and Compounding Lab courses.
  • Assists faculty in the conceptualization, design, execution, evaluation, and grading of laboratory exercises, academic courses, and continuing education courses for TTUHSC students and health care professionals.
  • Proctor didactic, laboratory, and experiential assessments as assigned.
  • Orders supplies and maintains inventory for other didactic courses and simulation experiences as needed and as assigned.
  • Prepares course budgets in cooperation with the SOP Lab/SIM team.
  • Monitors collection and use of student fees for the assigned course.
  • Teaches and evaluates students as assigned.
  • Maintains contemporary knowledge and application of pharmacy standards regarding evidence-based sterile product preparation, prescription processing, pharmacy law, immunization standards, community pharmacy based care and other topics elated to pharmacy education.
  • Assists with simulation-based experiences and simulation-based research activities.
  • Attends lab/sim related and course team related meetings, workshops, and trainings, to ensure proper preparation and understanding of course and lab materials and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or progressively responsible related experience to equal seven (7) years.
  • Current certification as Certified Pharmacy Technician. ASHP/ACPE IV certification.
